Riuscito con successo anche stasera, un breve ma simpatico QSO sulla "ROOMITALY". In compagnia degli amici IT9WWL, IT9GXC e IU8RHG abbiamo passato qualche minuto insieme e fatto qualche passaggio in perfetto "ham spirit". Spero che chi leggerà questo post si incuriosisca di questa novità e decida di unirsi anche lui a questo progetto che, mi auguro possa crescere nel tempo.

Also successful this evening, a short but nice QSO on "ROOMITALY". In the company of friends IT9WWL, IT9GXC and IU8RHG we spent a few minutes together and made some passes in perfect "ham spirit". Giornata iniziata e proseguita sino a buona parte del pomeriggio sui 20 metri. C'era brutto tempo dalle mie parti e quando capitano giornate molto nuvolose e coperte come questa, ho imparato che quasi sempre i 20 metri permettono buoni collegamenti. E così è stato, portati a casa oltre 50 QSO in ambito europeo, tutti fatti con molta tranquillità e con abbondanti pause dedicate anche a fare altro. Serata conclusa invece sui 60 metri, pure qui oltre 50 QSO messi a log e anche in questo caso, tranne l'amico canadese VE1YX, tutti collegamenti europei.

The day began and continued until well into the afternoon on 20 metres. There was bad weather in my area and when very cloudy and overcast days like this happen, I learned that 20 meters almost always allow good connections. And so it was, taking home over 50 QSOs in Europe, all done with great tranquility and with plenty of breaks dedicated to doing other things. The evening ended instead on 60 meters, here too over 50 QSOs logged and also in this case, except for the Canadian friend VE1YX, all European connections.

A few days ago, as usual after having reached and recorded a reasonable number of QSOs, I uploaded the log of my station here:

This morning, after logging in, I was able to download some AWARDS from the FT8 DMC program, including the AALPA. I think the image used for the background of the award speaks for itself.

Nella mia pagina QRZ ho scritto che preferisco i modi digitali, li preferisco perchè li considero il futuro del mondo radioamatoriale. Proprio per questo motivo, oggi, ho creato sull'app "CB-TALK" la "ROOMITALY", lo scopo è quello di fare il modo che anche radioamatori che si trovano in punti diversi dell'Italia possano entrare in contatto fra di loro senza per forza di cosa avere la radio con se. Non ho scoperto nè inventato nulla di nuovo, esistono già i ripetitori multiprotocollo per mettere in comunicazione i sistemi C4FM, DMR e D-Star ma la mia idea è che se per qualunque motivo non si può essere davanti alla radio, esiste un modo per parlare lo stesso con gli altri colleghi OM. Il sistema sembra funzionare, dopo l'inizio di un QSO in frequenza, con gli amici IU8QGO e IT9GXC abbiamo fatto qualche passaggio sulla room e tutto è andato bene, adesso è da sperimentare con un numero maggiori di partecipanti. "ROOMITALY", è giusto specificarlo, non è privata, l'unica cosa richiesta però, è essere radioamatori.

Dopo la mattinata trascorsa sui 40, 20 e 10 metri, il pomeriggio l'ho passato esclusivamente sui 15. Propagazione strana, nonostante pskreporter indicasse che il mio segnale fosse ricevuto praticamente in ogni parte degli Stati Uniti, da costa a costa, non sono riuscito a collegare nemmeno una stazione americana. In compenso, fra tutti i QSO, sono riuscito a mettere a log anche ZS6HON (Sud Africa).

After the morning spent on 40, 20 and 10 meters, the afternoon was spent exclusively on 15. Strange propagation, although pskreporter indicated that my signal was received in practically every part of the United States, from coast to coast, I was unable to connect not even one American station. On the other hand, among all the QSOs, I also managed to log ZS6HON (South Africa).

Dopo il primo post in cui ho pubblicato il prospetto della propagazione sui 10 metri, in questo secondo volevo condividere i collegamenti fatti nella prima parte della mattina. 40 metri prettamente nordamericani, 20 metri europei e 10 metri con skip stranamente lunghissimi per le bande alte.

After the first post in which I published the prospectus of propagation on 10 meters, in this second I wanted to share the connections made in the first part of the morning. 40 meters purely North American, 20 meters European and 10 meters with strangely very long skips for the high bands.

Dopo la deludente serata di ieri, l'alba di oggi è iniziata decisamente meglio. Skip lunghi sui 40 metri e un pò di stazioni oltreoceano collegate. Mattinata proseguita sui 20 e sui 10 metri con collegamenti in ambito europeo. Particolarità degna di nota, lo skip dei 10 particolarmente lungo, oltre 2000 km da un calcolo approssimativo.

After yesterday's disappointing evening, today's dawn started much better. Skip lengths of around 40 meters and a few connected overseas stations. Morning continued on 20 and 10 meters with connections within Europe. Particularity worthy of note, the skip of the 10 is particularly long, over 2000 km from an approximate calculation.

Ci sono giorni che per quanto ci si voglia sforzare, non riescono a prendere la giusta piega. Oggi è stata una di quelle. Dopo vari tentativi di chiamata sui 30 metri racimolando solo un QSO, sono passato sui 40 convinto che la situazione fosse migliore. Invece nulla, ogni QSO a log è stato chiuso dopo vari tentativi e i tutti quelli mancanti non sono stati portati a termine nemmeno dopo più tentativi. A volte, bisogna riconoscerlo, la radio va tenuta spenta e il tempo va dedicato ad altri passatempi ed oggi era una di quelle giornate in cui andava fatto.

There are days that no matter how hard you try, they just can't seem to get right. Today was one of those. After several attempts to call on 30 meters and only get one QSO, I moved on to 40 convinced that the situation was better. Instead nothing, every QSO in the log was closed after several attempts and all the missing ones were not completed even after multiple attempts. Sometimes, it must be acknowledged, the radio must be kept off and time must be dedicated to other pastimes and today was one of those days when it had to be done.

Giornata conclusa con altri 28 QSO sui 30 metri. Serata con un pò di amaro in bocca però: quasi un'ora di tentativi per collegare V51MH (Namibia) e 7P8AO (Lesotho), finiti senza portare nulla a log. La propagazione stasera era molto presente, il pile up creatosi verso quelle stazioni era imponenente e con meno di 50 watt in antenna è difficile in questi casi. Riproverò nei prossimi giorni.

The day ended with another 28 QSOs on 30 meters. Evening with a bit of a bad taste in the mouth however: almost an hour of attempts to connect V51MH (Namibia) and 7P8AO (Lesotho), which ended without bringing anything to the log. The propagation tonight was very present, the pile up created towards those stations was impressive and with less than 50 watts in the antenna it is difficult in these cases. I'll try again in the next few days.
