Giornata dedicata all'attività a bassissima potenza. Il setup era composto dalla radio RS 918, da una verticale filare di 8 metri montata su canna da pesca con un-un alla base e da 25 metri di RG8X per arrivare dall'antenna alla radio. Modalità di emissione FT8 e un solo watt in antenna. Tanti collegamenti, oltre 60, quasi tutti in ambito europeo e qualche contatto in Asia e in Africa.

Day dedicated to very low power activity. The setup consisted of the RS 918 radio, an 8 meter vertical row mounted on a fishing rod with a-un at the base and 25 meters of RG8X to reach from the antenna to the radio. FT8 emission mode and only one watt in the antenna. Many connections, over 60, almost all in Europe and some contacts in Asia and Africa.

Dopo il post precedente in cui indicavo le condizioni di lavoro odierne, allego a questo il log dei collegamenti effettuati oggi.

Preciso:
1) Non vi sono stati miracoli propagativi;
2) Non uso amplificatori di alcun tipo;
3) Anche in FT8, benchè presenti dei vantaggi, se le condizioni della stazione sono modeste e non calcolate in modo quasi perfetto, QSO non se ne portano a casa (come dice un caro amico OM, sono i dettagli che fanno la differenza fra il farsi sentire e non).

After the previous post in which I indicated today's working conditions, I attach to this the log of connections made today.

Accurate:
1) There were no propagative miracles;
2) I don't use amplifiers of any kind;
3) Even in FT8, although it has advantages, if the conditions of the station are modest and not calculated in an almost perfect way, QSOs are not taken home (as a dear OM friend says, it is the details that make the difference between the be heard or not).

Attività iniziata nella tarda mattinata oggi, dopo un piacevole e ventoso giro in bici mi sono dedicato all'attività sulle bande alte. Sui 10 metri, come al solito la posizione del mio QTH non mi ha fatto chiudere alcun collegamento, spostandomi sui 12 e utilizzando la "Exential" di IW2EN invece, ho chiuso un bel numero di QSO. L'antenna è uno stilo di poco più di 4 metri con l'un-un posizionato alla base. Per i detrattori delle antenne prodotte da Giovanni, allego la mappa di pskreporter indicante sin dove era ricevuto il mio segnale. Da precisare che l'antenna è posizionata su un balcone al primo piano di un condominio e che attorno ci sono altre costruzioni.

Activity started in the late morning today, after a pleasant and windy bike ride I dedicated myself to the activity on the high bands. On 10 meters, as usual the position of my QTH did not make me close any connections, moving to 12 and using the IW2EN "Exential", instead, I closed a good number of QSOs. The antenna is a rod of just over 4 meters with the un-un positioned at the base. For the detractors of the antennas produced by Giovanni, I attach the pskreporter map indicating where my signal was received. It should be noted that the antenna is positioned on a balcony on the first floor of an apartment building and that there are other buildings around it.

La serata ha portato buoni risultati, dopo la Cambogia, un'altro most wanted messo a log: J38R (Grenada), un piccola isola dell'oceano atlantico. Attualmente confermato su clublog solo il collegamento sui 15 metri, speriamo che anche quello sui 12 venga registrato.

Giornata con pochi QSO, il tempo dedicato alla radio non è stato molto e i contatti pochi e diluiti nel corso del pomeriggio. Un paio di collegamenti sui 20 metri e il resto del tempo passato sui 17. Una bella sorpresa è stata riuscire a collegare XU7GNY (Cambogia), poco pile up e propagazione favorevole. Naturalmente il collegamento è stato confermato su clublog per avere la certezza che il QSO è stato confermato. Un'altra nazione mancanta aggiunta a mio log.

A day with few QSOs, the time dedicated to the radio was not much and the contacts were few and diluted over the course of the afternoon. A couple of connections on 20 meters and the rest of the time spent on 17. A nice surprise was managing to connect XU7GNY (Cambodia), little pile up and favorable propagation. Naturally the connection was confirmed on clublog to be sure that the QSO was confirmed. Another missing country added to my log.

Dopo la patente, il nominativo e l'aver deciso che preferivo il digitale alla fonia, i primi passi che ho mosso in questo campo sono stati in FT4. La prima antenna che ho montato è stata la "Exential" di IW2EN e con quella ho fatto i primi QSO in HF. Stamane, dopo un paio di prove effettuate nei giorni scorsi in cui passando dalla longwire alla verticale mi trovavo a dover gestire un insolito SWR, ho tolto da dietro la radio i choke che avevo installato per evitare il ritorno di CMC (correnti di modo comune) e come immaginavo, il ROS è rientrato sui valori corretti. L'occasione, mi ha permesso di fare qualche chiamata con la Exential e, per analizzare con PSK reporter dove arrivava il segnale, ho utilizzato l'FT4. In serata, ho continuato con lo stesso modo ma con la longwire. Risultati inaspettati, nel complesso quasi un centinaio di QSO messi a log fra i 12, i 15 e i 20 metri.

After getting the license, the name and having decided that I preferred digital to voice, the first steps I took in this field were in FT4. The first antenna I mounted was the IW2EN "Exential" and with that I made my first HF QSOs. This morning, after a couple of tests carried out in recent days in which when switching from longwire to vertical I found myself having to manage an unusual SWR, I removed the chokes I had installed from behind the radio to avoid the return of CMC (common mode currents) and as I imagined, the ROS returned to the correct values. The occasion allowed me to make some calls with Exential and, to analyze with PSK reporter where the signal was arriving, I used the FT4. In the evening, I continued with the same method but with the longwire. Unexpected results, overall almost a hundred QSOs logged between 12, 15 and 20 metres.

Stamattina mi sono dedicato al QRP. Nonostante mi fossi ripromeso che tale attività, in fonia, l'avrei effettuata solo durante la settimana (il week-end non trovi altro che chiamate per diplomi e contest), ci sono ricascato. Sono riuscito a portare a casa solo un QSO con EA4EUI sui 17 metri e per il resto della mattina ho potuto fare solo ascolto. Ma almeno, con l'occasione, mi sono fatto quattro risate. Osservando vari logbook su QRZ avevo già notato che molti OM mettono a log stazioni che poi puntualmente su clublog non li hanno mai censiti ma non avrei mai immaginato che il radioamatore medio italiano, chiamasse le stazioni che partecipano ai contest dando alla fine del QSO sempre lo stesso numero: 100, onehundred! Incuriosito per oltre un'ora ho sentito gli stessi personaggi chiamare sui 20 e sui 15 metri ripetendo lo stesso numero alla fine di ogni collegamento: 100, onehundred! E alla fine della mattinata, mentre riponevo nella borsa l'818 e raccoglievo l'antenna mi domandavo se questi soggetti sanno cosa sia il vero ham spirit. E ripensando anche a un pò al recente passato, mi sono risposto: NO.

This morning I dedicated myself to QRP. Even though I had promised myself that I would only carry out this telephone activity during the week (at the weekend you find nothing but calls for diplomas and contests), I fell back into it. I managed to get home only one QSO with EA4EUI on 17 meters and for the rest of the morning I could only do listening. But at least, with the opportunity, I had a laugh. Observing various logbooks on QRZ I had already noticed that many OMs log stations which then promptly never listed them on clublog but I would never have imagined that the average Italian radio amateur would call the stations participating in the contests always giving at the end of the QSO the same number: 100, onehundred! Intrigued, for over an hour I heard the same characters calling on 20 and 15 meters repeating the same number at the end of each connection: 100, onehundred! And at the end of the morning, as I put the 818 in my bag and picked up the antenna, I wondered if these people know what real ham spirit is. And thinking back a little about the recent past, I answered myself: NO.

Un pomeriggio iniziato in modo noioso, pochi QSO saltellando fra i 20 e i 30 metri e propagazione praticamente assente. Al tramonto, passando sui 40 metri ho portato a casa un discreto numero di QSO; naturalmente non siamo ai livelli delle giornate migliori ma il minimo sindacale è stato realizzato. Dettaglio degno di nota: 7J1ADJ (Giappone), vi invito a guardare la sua pagina QRZ, a mio parere decisamente bella.

An afternoon started in a boring way, a few QSOs jumping between 20 and 30 meters and practically no propagation. At sunset, passing on 40 meters I brought home a fair number of QSOs; naturally we are not at the levels of the best days but the minimum wage has been achieved. Noteworthy detail: 7J1ADJ (Japan), I invite you to look at his QRZ page, which in my opinion is decidedly beautiful.

Prima di pubblicare questo post riflettevo: 8.000 QSO verificati e confermati con stazioni europee, un bel traguardo. Adesso restano i 9.000 e per chiudere, l'ultimo scalino dell'AWARD, 10.000.

Before publishing this post I reflected: 8,000 QSOs verified and confirmed with European stations, a good achievement. Now there are 9,000 left and to close, the last step of the AWARD, 10,000.

Riuscito con successo anche stasera, un breve ma simpatico QSO sulla "ROOMITALY". In compagnia degli amici IT9WWL, IT9GXC e IU8RHG abbiamo passato qualche minuto insieme e fatto qualche passaggio in perfetto "ham spirit". Spero che chi leggerà questo post si incuriosisca di questa novità e decida di unirsi anche lui a questo progetto che, mi auguro possa crescere nel tempo.

Also successful this evening, a short but nice QSO on "ROOMITALY". In the company of friends IT9WWL, IT9GXC and IU8RHG we spent a few minutes together and made some passes in perfect "ham spirit".
