Inizio di giornata sulle bande alte, dopo un avvio un pò stentato (sembrava che non ci fosse propagazione), la situazione è notevolmente migliorata. Strano QRM sui 12 metri verso le 10:00 UTC, fortunatamente però, spostandosi sui 10 il problema è sparito.

Start of the day on the high bands, after a somewhat slow start (it seemed like there was no propagation), the situation improved considerably. Strange QRM on 12 meters around 10:00 UTC, fortunately however, moving to 10 the problem disappeared.

Dopo il QRP della prima parte della giornata, la seconda è stata dedicata ai 30 e agli 80 metri. Pochi QSO, propagazione quasi assente e molta difficoltà a chiuderli, soprattutto sulle bande basse. Speriamo che domani sia una giornata propagativamente migliore.

After the QRP of the first part of the day, the second was dedicated to 30 and 80 meters. Few QSOs, almost no propagation and very difficult to close them, especially on the low bands. Let's hope tomorrow is a propagatively better day.

Stamattina, dopo un lungo e bellissimo giro in bici, ho trascorso le ore prima di pranzo in riva al mare a testare la nuova configurazione della spiderbeam. Tolti gli ultimi tre steli dalla canna di 12 metri veniva chiuso con un tappo il tubo posto in cima al palo e, agganciato ad esso, la Zeppelin di Giovanni IW2EN fissandola con della colla caldo e delle fascette di rinforzo. Risultati più che soddisfacenti, nel poco tempo dedicato all'attività ho collegato:

1) EA1FDJ sui 15 metri;
2) DR100PE sui 20 metri;
3) IZ4EFP sui 20 metri;
4) OM/SP9MPZ sui 20 metri.

Tutto ovviamente in QRP col piccolo, grande Yaesu FT818.

This morning, after a long and beautiful bike ride, I spent the hours before lunch by the sea testing the new configuration of the spiderbeam. Once the last three stems were removed from the 12 meter barrel, the tube placed at the top of the pole was closed with a cap and Giovanni IW2EN's Zeppelin was attached to it, fixing it with hot glue and reinforcing straps. More than satisfactory results, in the little time dedicated to the activity I connected:

1) EA1FDJ on 15 meters;
2) DR100PE on 20 meters;
3) IZ4EFP on 20 meters;
4) OM/SP9MPZ on 20 meters.

All obviously in QRP with the small, large Yaesu FT818.

Pomeriggio iniziato sui 17 metri ma propagazione evanescente, continuato sui 20 con qualche collegamento e concluso sugli 80 con tanti QSO portati a termine. Buona la propagazione e ottimi i segnali. Peccato non aver avuto altro tempo per fare un paio di chiamate sui 160, poteva essere la serata giusta uscire fuori Europa.

The afternoon started on 17 meters but evanescent propagation, continued on 20 with some connections and ended on 80 with many QSOs completed. Good propagation and excellent signals. It's a shame we didn't have more time to make a couple of calls on the 160, it could have been the right evening to go outside Europe.

Giornata trascorsa sui 30 metri. Dopo un inizio un pò altalenante con la propagazione che non collaborava, in serata, per fortuna, le cose sono andate decisamente meglio permettendomi di mettere a log un bel pò di stazioni di tutta Europa. Fra i primi QSO anche l'Azerbaijan (4K5RA) e fra gli ultimi il Giappone (JA4DND).

Day spent on 30 meters. After a somewhat fluctuating start with the propagation not cooperating, in the evening, fortunately, things went much better allowing me to log quite a few stations from all over Europe. Among the first QSOs also Azerbaijan (4K5RA) and among the last Japan (JA4DND).

Conclusione di giornata sui 60 metri, pochi contatti messi a log e solo qualche stazione europea collegata. Totale QSO di oggi: molti oltre i 100.

Fine mattinata e buona parte del pomeriggio trascorsi sui 12 metri. Ottima propagazione, skip che permettevano collegamenti sia a breve che a lunga distanza e tanti QSO messi a log: 3B8CW (Isole Mauritius), VU2WJ (India), 4X1TI (Israele), W8KF-AD9CD-AA5AT-AB8MO-N4EMG (U.S.A.), D2UY (Angola), VA3WU (Canada) e HC1M (Equador).

Conclusion of the morning and a good part of the afternoon spent on 12 meters. Excellent propagation, skips that allowed both short and long distance connections and many QSOs logged: 3B8CW (Mauritius), VU2WJ (India), 4X1TI (Israel), W8KF-AD9CD-AA5AT-AB8MO-N4EMG (U.S.A.), D2UY (Angola), VA3WU (Canada) and HC1M (Ecuador).

Oggi niente sport, brutto tempo, quindi già dalle prime ore del mattino si sta in radio. Si parte dagli 80 metri con gli Stati Uniti (N3IQ), si prosegue sui 60 con la Nuova Zelanda (ZL2CC), U.S.A. (K8CXM e W5XO), Porto Rico (NP3DM) e altre stazioni europee. Dopo i 60 si passa sui 30 metri e dopo sui 12, dove sono ancora adesso mentre sto scrivendo questo post. Quasi 50 QSO, un buon inizio di giornata.

Today no sport, bad weather, so we'll be on the radio from the early hours of the morning. We start from 80 meters with the United States (N3IQ), continuing on 60 with New Zealand (ZL2CC), U.S.A. (K8CXM and W5XO), Puerto Rico (NP3DM) and other European stations. After 60 we move on to 30 meters and then to 12, where I am still now as I am writing this post. Almost 50 QSOs, a good start to the day.

Pomeriggio particolare, quando ho aperto la radio verso le 17:00 c'erano già segnali sugli 80 metri (cosa incredibile considerato che a quell'ora era ancora giorno) e una bella propagazione sui 40 della quale ho approfittato per fare qualche collegamento. Fine serata concluso sugli 80 metri, tentata qualche chiamata sui 160 ma poco traffico sulla banda. Si prosegue domani.

Particular afternoon, when I opened the radio around 5pm there were already signals on 80 meters (which was incredible considering that it was still daytime at that time) and a nice propagation on 40 which I took advantage of to make some connections. End of the evening concluded on 80 metres, attempted a few calls on 160 but little traffic on the band. We continue tomorrow.

Sicuramente il merito è stato dal fenomeno di cui si parla qui: https://www.today.it/scienze/brillamento-s...3820.1696506186 ma in due anni non ho mai visto una propagazione così aperta sugli 80 metri. Non so se questo evento continuerà anche domani (me lo auguro) ma di sicuro stasera era da non perdere.

The credit certainly came from the phenomenon discussed here: https://www.today.it/scienze/brillamento-s...3820.1696506186 but in two years I have not I have never seen such open propagation on 80 metres. I don't know if this event will continue tomorrow (I hope so) but tonight was certainly not to be missed.
