Devo riconoscere che non amo molto i 40 metri, sarà la mia impressione ma pare che su questa frequenza le stazioni chiamate facciano finta di non sentire per evitare di chiudere un QSO. Ho constatato spesso che, provando a chiamare due OM geograficamente vicini fra loro, il primo non rispondeva alla chiamata e il secondo si. Credevo di sbagliarmi all'inizio, magari la propagazione a volte, su certe frequenze, può essere capricciosa ma, essendosi ripetuto più volte allora ho capito che, come in tutti i luoghi del mondo, anche nel nostro ci stanno persone che mancano dei principi basilari del saper vivere civile. Pazienza, si vive lo stesso e si fa radio lo stesso, il divertimento non manca mai e anche stasera, è bastato cambiare modalità di trasmissione, passare da FT8 a FT4, per fare tantissimi collegamenti.

I must admit that I don't like 40 meters very much, it may be just my impression but it seems that on this frequency the stations called pretend not to hear to avoid closing a QSO. I have noticed very often that, when trying to call two OMs geographically close to each other, the first did not answer the call and the second did. I thought I was wrong at the beginning, maybe the propagation at times, on certain frequencies, can be capricious but, having repeated it several times then I understood that, as in all places in the world, even in ours there are people who lack the basic principles of civil life. Never mind, we live the same and we do radio the same, the fun never fails and even tonight, it was enough to change the transmission mode, going from FT8 to FT4, to make lots of connections.

Propagazione completamente chiusa oggi sui 12, 15 e 17 metri. Spostato il VFO sui 20 metri invece, ho iniziato a mettere a log qualche contatto e poi, verso sera, passato sui 40 ho concluso un discreto numero di QSO. Quasi 100 collegamenti pure oggi, ottimo.

Propagazione aperta nel primo pomeriggio con skip che hanno fatto arrivare il mio segnale nel Nord America e in Oceania e verso sera la solita Europa. Little activity today, just over a couple of hours in the second part of the day. Propagation opened in the early afternoon with skips that sent my signal to North America and Oceania and the usual Europe towards the evening. Sinceramente mi dispiace, mi dispiace perchè i suoi prodotti sono di buona qualità, mi dispiace perchè tanti padri di famiglia adesso dovranno trovarsi un nuovo lavoro e mi dispiace anche perchè è il segno che il mondo radioamatoriale è in declino. Mi dispiace per i commenti che ho letto in giro, commenti che poco hanno del vero "ham spirit", commenti che vengono da molti OM italiani. Sono radioamatore da relativamente poco, solo 3 anni, ma non sono nato ieri e quello che devo riconoscere al mondo radioamatoriale nostrano è la pochezza di intenti, il facile giudizio e il non esimersi mai dall'esprimere pareri negativi su qualunque evento (Bouvet solo per citarne uno recente). Fortunatamente però, nel nostro hobby è possibile variare e il digitale, mai come in questo momento storico, permette di scegliere come fare radio e con chi farla. All'inizio della mia avventura radiantistica mi chiedevo come mai i radioamatori di altre nazioni avessero poca considerazione di noi, poi, col tempo ho capito perchè e ho deciso di crearmi i miei spazi: un blog, un forum, un canale whatsapp e due canali digitali su due app che permettono di interagire come se si fosse alla radio (CB TALK e ZELLO). Magari non avranno mai successo ma almeno saprò che ci ho messo cuore, anima e che sono al servizio degli altri OM. Spero che il futuro possa portare tante belle novità per chi, a causa della chiusura della MFJ, sarà in difficoltà e dovrà trovarsi un nuovo lavoro. A loro e alle loro famiglie auguro di vero cuore che il futuro sia generoso e possa far dimenticare questo brutto momento.

Quasi 100 QSO conclusi anche oggi, mattinata dedicata al QRPP (1 watt) e pomeriggio in tranquillità col mitico FT 991a. Propagazione interessante sui 17 metri, che non hanno deluso nemmeno oggi e sugli 80 che, da qualche giorno, sembravano chiusi a qualunque collegamento che non fosse entro i confini nazionali. 10, 12 e 15 invece, capricciosi come il tempo di questo periodo.

Il World Wide Locator o WWL, spesso chiamato semplicemente locator, è un semplice sistema per individuare la posizione geografica di una stazione radioamatoriale. Esso è conosciuto anche come Maidenhead Locator System, dal nome della località vicino a Londra dove il sistema fu concepito per la prima volta nel 1980, durante un incontro di responsabili VHF europei. Ogni località della Terra può essere individuata da una stringa di 6 caratteri (due lettere + due numeri + due lettere), di cui le posizioni dispari specificano la longitudine e quelle pari la latitudine. Ogni coppia di caratteri identifica l'angolo inferiore sinistro di un "rettangolo" (in realtà, data la sfericità della Terra, quello di un "trapezio" curvilineo, che ai Poli diventa un triangolo). La prima coppia di lettere suddivide la Terra in aree di larghezza pari a 20° di longitudine ed altezza pari a 10° di latitudine; la seconda coppia di numeri suddivide l'area così definita in aree più piccole di 2° di longitudine e 1° di latitudine e la terza coppia, infine, crea un'ulteriore suddivisione pari a 5 minuti di grado di latitudine e 2,5 minuti di grado di latitudine. Usando la terminologia anglosassone, la prima coppia di lettere identifica il field, la coppia di numeri lo square e l'ultima coppia di lettere il subsquare. I valori di field e di square sono usati dai radioamatori anche per calcolare con maggior precisione le nazioni collegate.

L'obiettivo raggiunto con questo AWARD è quello di aver collegato, in FT4, radioamatori in tutto il mondo, di 500 locator differenti.

The World Wide Locator or WWL, often simply called locator, is a simple system for identifying the geographic location of an amateur radio station. It is also known as the Maidenhead Locator System, named after the location near London where the system was first conceived in 1980, during a meeting of European VHF managers. Each location on Earth can be identified by a string of 6 characters (two letters + two numbers + two letters), of which the odd positions specify the longitude and the even ones the latitude. Giornata iniziata e finita in bellezza, primo QSO sui 15 metri D2UY (Angola) e ultimo JT1CO (Mongolia) sui 40. Propagazione non proprio eccellente sui 15 e sui 20 metri, interessante sui 17, ma lo è già da qualche giorno e skip stranamente lunghi sui 40 metri. Quasi 50 collegamenti anche stasera.

The day began and ended in style, first QSO on 15 meters D2UY (Angola) and last JT1CO (Mongolia) on 40. Not exactly excellent propagation on 15 and 20 metres, interesting on 17, but it has been so for a few days already and strangely skip about 40 meters long. Almost 50 connections tonight too.

Serata conclusa sui 30 metri, propagazione interessante ad inizio attività e blocco completo per circa 20 minuti dalle 18:20 alle 18:40 UTC. Modalità utilizzata FT4, semplice e veloce. Conclusione della giornata, un passaggio sugli 80 metri per salutare IN3FOB e IN3HJN durante il loro evento in QRP. In questo caso, il fidato compagno è stato l'amico di mille avventure, lo Yaesu FT818 con il microfono MD 100 A8X abbinato al DYC 8x7. 5 watt in uscita dalla radio.

Evening concluded on 30 metres, interesting propagation at the start of activity and complete block for around 20 minutes from 6.20pm to 6.40pm UTC. Mode used FT4, simple and fast. Conclusion of the day, a ride on the 80 meters to greet IN3FOB and IN3HJN during their QRP event. In this case, the trusted companion was the friend of a thousand adventures, the Yaesu FT818 with the MD 100 A8X microphone combined with the DYC 8x7. 5 watts output from the radio.

Simpatico AWARD conquistato questo pomeriggio. Quello ottenuto è il primo step, 100 isole, per i prossimi ci vogliono rispettivamente 200 e 300 isole.

Stamattina propagazione a macchia di leopardo. 30, 20, 17 e 15 metri passando da una frequenza all'altra e commutando da FT8 ad FT4 alla ricerca di qualche QSO. Una quarantina di collegamenti portati a termine ma non senza difficoltà.
